Multiple accounts on the same device

Troubleshooting sign in issues

As parents and students are using Microsoft account to login to the school system, using the same device to login to different type of accounts may present some issues, the school is using SingleSignOn feature across the number of services such as TASS, Canvas and MyStudentAccount (canteen orders) which allows the user to login once without the need to enter the details again when they access another school's service.

That however presents the issue - if student sign into Canvas in Google Chrome, then if a parent tries to access TASS parent lounge on the same device in Google Chrome - the parent will see the error like this:

Message: AADSTS50105: The signed in user 'studentname@tphs.nsw.edu.au' is not assigned to a role for the application 'fe4a92ee-1de0-42ae-8dae-9c35f9f1149e'(TASS Parent lounge).

To fix that, on that device in the same browser, please go to TASS Student Cafe - https://tass.tphs.nsw.edu.au/studentcafe/saml/ you should see student's name in the top right corner with the option to log out:

Once you click Log out - you should be able to login to TASS Parent lounge https://tass.tphs.nsw.edu.au/parentlounge/saml/ with your parent account normally.

What we recommend

If you're sharing the device between parents and students, we recommend separating accounts by using different browsers, so if student is using Chrome to access school services, then parent would use Safari/Edge/Firefox, that way sign in conflicts can be avoided.
